Phuket has four main trips that operate on a day to day basis. These boats head over to dive-sites that are reachable within one day, some only concentrate on a specific set of dive-sites daily, others rotate the sites within the space of a week. We work with trusted operators that have been around for 5+ years, that have experienced crew on board and follow all marine laws and safety regulations.
2 dives to Racha Yai Island
One of the only 2 dives day trip available to Racha Yai Island, south of Phuket. Takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. This trip is suitable for beginners such as try divers and those training for open water certifications. There are protected bays all around the island, which also allows for the certified diver to have a relaxing 2 dive day if one so wished.
3 dives to Racha Noi and Racha Yai Islands
Racha Noi Island is further south than Racha Yai, the trip goes to both islands. Racha Noi has a better chance of larger pelagic marine life, due to the deeper depths available. The visibility is usually on par with the Similans Islands on the eastern side of Racha Noi. Travel time here is 2 hours 20 minutes. The north and the southern tip of Racha Noi islands can go quite deep and is suitable for more advanced divers. Although the bays are sheltered enough for beginners as well.
3 dives to King Cruiser Wreck/Shark Point/Koh Doc Mai or Anemone Reef
This daily 3 dives trip goes out into the open sea and on some days can be rough due to lack of protection, depth and currents. It is very enjoyable for the more advanced diver, due to the large amounts of soft corals and schooling fish available on the wreck and on the reefs. As for Koh Doc Mai, smaller creatures for the macro enthusiast along the wall. Depending on where the first dive is travel time can be between 1 hour 30 - 1 hour 50.
3 dives to Phi Phi + 1
This is the furthest day trip from Phuket it can take up to 3 hours to travel to Phi Phi Islands, although being a national park, the wildlife underwater has been flourishing back over the last few years. From sharks to turtles, schooling trevallies and barracudas, the dive-sites in Phi Phi are stunning and worth the trip.
What you can expect on board
All our partner boat operators for SCUBA have tanks, weights, belts and spare equipment on board. Along with amenities such as toilets and showers. Breakfast is served on the way out to the dive-sites, lunch is either after your first or second dive depending on the trip. Local seasonal fruits are served as snacks and tea/coffee/water is available as self service all day long.
How it works
The day trip boats are based at Chalong pier and usually leave for their respective destinations between 0830am and 0850am. Transportation from various parts of the island will vary depending on location. Travel time to dive-sites will be dependent on the day-trip destination; it can be from an 1 hour 20 to Racha Yai Island day trip, or 2 hours 45 to Phi Phi Islands. The boats are shared boats and therefore on board you will be in company with many different nationalities.
